Why are municipalities requiring Truss Identification
Signs? Buildings
constructed with wood / steel trusses structurally fail significantly
faster than any other means of construction
in the event of a fire. There have been many fire fighters
injured and killed in fire related truss roof failures.
The number one concern for a fire fighter responding to
structure fire is: Is there a truss in the structure?
and will it collapse on me? The signs are indicators for first responders (when sizing
up the emergency situation) that the building contains trusses.
